Speeding Up that Laggy PC

Is your computer running slow? Taking forever to open apps? Webpages freezing up? Are you getting frustrated? Then this article is for you!

There are a few things you can do to speed up your PC before calling tech support. In this article, we will discuss how you can go about doing so:

REBOOT:

Yes we know. This may sound too simple but often times a quick reboot really does help get your computer running faster. Besides, if you call tech support, this is the first thing they will ask you to do, so always reboot when having computer slowness.

Remove unused applications:

Make sure you don’t have any unused apps sitting around your PC. They can take up space and cause slowness. Uninstall unused applications.

Empty the recycle bin:

Remove items from your recycling bin regularly. Don not let junk fill up there for too long. This takes up space on your PC and can in turn cause slowness!

Use CCleaner:

If you don’t already have it installed, go ahead and install CCleaner from https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner . Get the free version and run it on your machine. This will clean out and improve the performance of your PC.

Close out some of your browser tabs:

Having too many tabs open in your browser can cause slowness. Make sure to close out of a tab once you are done using it and try to avoid leaving your browser open over night as this can cause slowness as well.

Close out of apps you are done using:

Like the browser tabs, be sure to close apps and software that you are done using. Leaving too many things running at once on your PC can cause slowness, especially if you only have 4 to 8 GBs (gigabytes) of memory on that PC.
